Directly from the inflow of the water in the filter, oozing of the water through the hollow Ceramic rings. The larger dirt particles to sink to the bottom. The filtered water follows its path to the other layers of filter materials. The ceramic rings have a rough surface which provides space for the colonization of beneficial bacteria. EHEIM MECH is easy to clean and reusable.

Kon het al van mijn vorige aquaria, ben erg tevreden over dit product, daardoor wederom in gebruik van mijn filter
Ik gebruik dit voor mijn externe filter. Veel oppervlakte door het ruwe poreuze karakter van het filtermedium.
Te gebruiken voor extern potfilter. 1 zo een pak is ruim voldoende voor een 2211 eheim (kleinste dus, de 150) Aan te raden er een filterzakje bij te kopen, dan kun je eenvoudig verwijderen het geheel aan pijpjes en rinsen in een schone emmer met afgezogen aquariumwater, zodat de genestelde, goede bacteriën niet teveel verloren en dood gaan. De buisjes zijn namelijk poreus, waardoor gunstige bacteriën zich massaal innestelen in deze miniscule 'gatjes/ oppervlakken. De bacteriën nemen giftoffen in het op en zetten deze om in minder slechte en giftige stoffen. Vb is nitrificatie ( nitriet (giftig)---> nitraat (plantenvoeding). Verder is het aan te raden naast biologische filtratiemateriaal ook mechanisch filtermateriaal aan te wenden, van grof naar heel erg fijn. Dit is een prima product!
