EHEIM SUBSTRATpro is biological filter material that makes maximum use of the filter volume. It requires little maintenance and has top composting performance! The most important task of biological filter material is to provide good conditions for the colonization of bacterial cultures. Bacteria feed on and convert dirt particles of all kinds. After the mechanical cleaning process (EHEIM MECH or EHEIM MECHpro), biological filtration is the most important. It provides clear, healthy water with stable water values. This is why EHEIM has invested a lot in research and development of biological filter material.
EHEIM SUBSTRAT pro consists of pearl-shaped balls of sintered glass. The round shape gives it a high density. The entire available space in the filter (filter basket or basket) can be utilized. The optimal surface of the granules also ensures intensive colonization of essential, purifying bacteria. Sufficient open space remains between the granules for water circulation, which guarantees the efficiency of the filter.
Due to the high concentration of bacteria, a nitrite peak is reduced more easily and periodic maintenance of the filter material is required less often. EHEIM SUBSTRAT pro is suitable for fresh and sea water and can be rinsed frequently and therefore lasts an extremely long time.
