Seachem Matrix
Seachem Matrix is a biological filter material with high porosity for removing nitrogenous waste. Matrix is a porous, inorganic and hard grain of about 10mm in diameter. Each liter of Matrix has a surface area of approximately 700 m 2 . Where plastic filter material only offers an adhesion surface on the outside, Seachem Matrix has both an external and internal macro-porous surface. This macro-porous surface is ideal for housing nitrifying and de-nitrifying bacteria. This enables Matrix, unlike other filter media, to remove nitrate together with ammonia and nitrite in one and the same filter.
Seachem Matrix is completely inert and will not decay. No replacement is necessary. Because the bacteria are largely internal, Matrix can be rinsed out without causing damage to the filter effect. Seachem Matrix is preferably used in a canister filter, but is also suitable for use in all other types of wet and dry filters.

Seachem Matrix instructions for use
Use 250ml Matrix for every 200 L of water. Matrix can be placed in any type of filter and is particularly suitable for use in an external canister filter. Matrix is large enough to be used in filter baskets without a filter net. Matrix also works excellently in trickle filter systems. Tip: combine with Seachem Stability to quickly create a well-functioning bio-filter.
