Seachem Matrix is a biological filter media with high porosity for the removal of nitrogenous waste. The Matrix is a porous, mineral, and hard pellets of 10 mm in diameter. Each liter of Matrix has a surface area of approx. 700 m2. Synthetic filter media, only on the outside, hechtingsoppervlakte features, it has Seachem Matrix, both externally and internally, in the macro-porous surface area. This is a macro-porous surface area, it is ideal for the accommodation of the nitrifying and de-nitrifying bacteria. This enables the Matrix to be able to, other than that of the other filter media, nitrates, along with ammonia and nitrate, to remove at one and the same filter.
Seachem Matrix is completely inert and will not decompose. Replacement is not necessary. Seachem Matrix is preferably used in an potfilter, but it is also suitable for use in all kinds of wet and dry filters.

Use 250 ml of Matrix for each 200 L of water. The Matrix can be in any kind of a filter is to be inserted, and it is particularly well suited for use in an external potfilter.
