Alternanthera reineckii 'Cardinalis' is perhaps the most beautiful of all Alternanthera reineckii species. It is a beautiful, full stem plant with beautiful leaves. The leaves are egg-shaped and have a dark red/brown tinge on the top and an intense dark red on the underside.
The Althernanthera reineckii 'Cardinalis' can be used well between the middle plants or with the background plants. It is then a real eye-catcher in the aquarium. Pruning and multiplying is very easy. Long stems can be cut low and the cut tops can then be tucked into the substrate. In order for the Alternanthera reineckii 'Cardinalis' to really come into its own, a considerable amount of light and CO2 are needed. If the amount of light is not sufficient, the plant will turn green and it will lose the lower leaves. In addition, the plant benefits from good fertilization. Think especially of iron (Fe), this helps the plant to get and maintain a beautiful red color.
