The base is 15cm wide and is secured to the edge of the aquarium with 3 screws. The glass may be up to 15mm thick. A rod is screwed onto this. The upper arm slides into this. For extra safety, 3 slots have been made in the arm (at 3, 6 and 9 cm) where the steel wire is kept in place.
