Hakkai Stone
Hakkai Stone is an exclusive type of stone. The stone is only available sporadically for a long time. He owes his fame to the 350cm long layout that has been on display at the entrance to the ADA gallery since 2005. Finally it is available in the webshop. It is a beautiful stone with dark gray tones that sometimes contain a shade of green and blue. Not much special at first glance, but those who take the time will appreciate its beauty.
The Hakkai Stone is rounded and feels smooth. Dents and pits are present across the surface. In translations it is referred to as "insect-eaten" stones, because it seems that this is what caused the dents. If you let your imagination run wild, it looks like the modeling work of giants. It is of course more likely that this was caused by water flowing with great force along the stones and slowly eroding these shapes. The stones are therefore ideally suited to translate the atmosphere of a fast-flowing river into the aquarium.
For an Iwagumi layout, Hakkai Stones can be well combined with grassy plants such as Eleocharis acicularis, Blyxa japonica, Cyperus helferi, Helanthium tenellum 'Green' etc. The trick is to find a good balance between plants and stones. Hakkai Stones are quite heavy and not all stones are equally pronounced in terms of dents and pits. If in doubt, we therefore recommend ordering more than will ultimately be used, so that a selection can be made. Thanks to the dark color and special shape, a natural aquarium can quickly be set up.
