Aquarium plants for the mid-ground reach above the foreground plants and can be placed in front of the background plants. The midground can be covered with medium height plants or plant groups or solitairy plants on the Golden Ratio. Combine different types of plants with a contrast in leave shape, leave color and texture for maximum results.
Anubias barteri var. glabra is native to West Africa. A beautiful aquarium plant with thin leaves of 10 to 20 cm long and with a dark green color.
Anubias gracilis comes from West Africa, like many other Anubias species. Triangular leaves of 5-10cm on long stems make the Anubias gracilis the most elegant species and is also a robust aquarium plant.
Bacopa caroliniana comes from the United States and has been used as an aquarium plant for many years. The stems grow to a height of 10-30cm and are quite easy to care for in the aquarium.

Aponogeton crispus is from Sri Lanka and is a beautiful plant in the aquarium. The transparent, wavy, light green leaves are about 25-50cm long and the plant is 15-25cm wide.
Bucephalandra 'Kedagang' grows naturally on stones and wood in rivers and streams, similar to Anubias. The maintenance and growth also corresponds to that of Anubias species and can be tied to wood or stone.

Crinum calamistratum comes from West Africa and is a particularly graceful aquarium plant with dark green, wavy leaves. These come from the tuber, are narrow and grow to a length of 40-120cm.

Cryptocoryne wendtii 'Green' comes from Sri Lanka and grows to a size of 5-15cm in the aquarium. It is an easy aquarium plant, also suitable for a small aquarium.

Vallisneria nana is an aquarium plant from Australia and has long thin leaves less than 1cm wide with a dark green color. The height is also quite low for a valisneria.
