A healthy, nutrient rich substrate is the foundation of a healthy aquarium! Without good substrate the plants in the aquarium wil not grow well and due to lack of nutrients they will make an unhealthy impression. Good substrate stimulates the growth of roots, improves biological activity and increases the overall succes of the aquarium in the long term.
Aquariumplants need special nutrients to grow well, take root, develop new leaves, maintain their color and stay in shape. Nearly all aquarium plants are marsh plants that take up nutrients through their roots out of the substrate. A nutritional base layer helps to prefent shortage in nutrients by the aquarium plants and is also beneficial for the long term use.
