Helanthium tenellum, formerly Echinodorus tenellus, is the smallest variant of the Echinodorus species. This makes it ideal for a small aquarium. The plant is native to North America and under high lighting it grows compactly and takes on a red hue. This 'Green' variant is a cultivar that remains beautiful green in color even under high light intensity.
When planting, plant small portions of Echinodorus tenellus 'Green' together and use fine tweezers. The plant spreads via suckers and eventually a beautiful, fresh green grass carpet will develop in the aquarium. In itself, this aquarium plant is not very demanding, but a nutrient-rich soil such as ADA Aqua Soil Powder has a very favorable effect on its growth. Adding extra fertilizer and CO2 will also make the plant grow vigorously and lushly!
