Compared to standard alder cones, Casuarina cones have a more tropical appearance. They come from Casuarina Equisetifolia. This is a coniferous tree that mainly occurs in Asia and Australia. Placing them in the aquarium creates hiding places for shrimps. Especially when a pair is placed on top of each other. This would also be a wonderful application in a biotope aquarium. It is a challenge to make the soil interesting. This is quite easy with the Casuarina cones.
