Slide background

Wij gaan verhuizen !
Bestellingen worden verzonden t/m 15 maart. Daarna gaan we alles verhuizen.

ADA Start with A: Lighting

Let's Start With A - Verlichting aquascape

Photosynthesis activity of aquarium plants depending on the light intensity

Aquarium plants can be roughly divided into two categories: Full sun plants that have an active photosynthesis and shadow plants that are less active in photosynthesis. Sun plants such as stengelplanten and Riccia undergo an intense photosynthesis and grow faster under strong lighting. On the other hand, shadow plants, such as ferns and Cryptocorynes, even healthy to grow in low-light situations. Some grow poorly in intensive lighting. For a Nature Aquarium with both sun needy and shadow plants is the light intensity adjusted to the level of the sun-needy plants. The shadow plants are planted in locations with less light intensity, so that they are less light received.

Colours of light for healthy growth of aquarium plants

The colour temperature of artificial lighting is depending on the balance between three primary colors of light (Red, Green, and Blue). Some lamps have a low color temperature (red tinted light) and some have a high colour temperature blue tinted light). The red and blue light by the plants is used for photosynthesis. Red light in water is quickly absorbed, while the blue almost freely permeating. As a result, it is assumed that plants that are underwater life, mainly the blue light use for photosynthesis. AFTER Lamp for the Nature Aquarium, therefore, has a larger proportion of blue in the spectrum.

1. The red light is absorbed quickly, as soon as the water deepens. The blue light is hardly blocked. 2. In situations under water, it is good to see that blue light actually deeper penetrates in the water.

The colour of the light changes as the lamps age

Both the AFTER fluorescent lamp as the metal halide NAMH and NAG lamps have a large blue share in the spectrum for the growth of aquarium plants. When the bulbs get older the touch, the light output backward, and the light is redder in color. To the original intensity to maintain, it is advisable to use the lamp every year to replace.

Adequate light output

In the basis the belichtingsduur of the Nature Aquarium 8 to 10 hours per day and it is important to have control on a daily, regular lighting period were used. NA Control Timer makes it possible to reduce the CO2 fertilization and aeration to switch in accordance with the lighting. In the case of a algenexplosie, reduce the light output to 6 hours to prevent the growth of algae to brake.

1. NA Control Timer makes it possible to have a regular photoperiod. 2. Aeration is carried out when the light is turned off to lack of oxygen to prevent.

Aquascape looks different with different lighting

An aquascape under a metal-halide lamp looks different than under a fluorescent lamp. Aquarium plants and decoration materials, give deep shadows under metal-halide lamps in that right light. In contrast with fluorescent lamps where the shadows will be much less, because the light in all directions be radiated, and therefore a softer illumination in the aquarium is present. In addition to the excellent effect on the stimulation of photosynthesis, the NAMH high color fastness that the original colors of the aquarium plants accurately as possible. The NAG enhanced the green colours of the plants.

1. Red colors of aquarium plants come better to the fore under the light of NAMH lamp, which has a high color rendering. 2.The light of the NAG lamp enhances the green tones of the aquarium plants.

Adequate lighting is crucial for a Nature Aquarium to get healthy plants to grow and they are nice to relieve. For the illumination of artificial light sources are adequate brightness, color temperature, light output and colour, the most important properties for optimal growth of aquarium plants, as well as the aesthetic appearance of the aquascape.

The light distribution depends on the distance between the lamp and the surface of the water

The light distribution of the lamps "Solar I" and "Grand Solar" varies depending on the distance between the lamp and the surface of the water. When the distance is small, the area directly under the lamp is very bright, but there will be a difference between the middle and the other parts of the aquarium. On the other hand, when the distance is large, the distribution of the light more evenly, but will the aquarium a little less brightly lit seem. The height of the lamp will need to be tailored to the type layout and the present aquarium plants. The influence of the heat that the bulb emits when it is turned on, is smaller if the distance between the lamp and the water surface is greater.
