Foreground plants are basicly aquarium plants that stay low. Combine different types of aquarium plants that provide contrast with each other in color, leave shape and height. This way a playful and interesting under water landscape can be created.
Alternanthera reineckii 'Mini' is a very popular aquarium plant due to its red color and is characterized by compact growth and slower growth rate. Ideal for a small aquarium or as a foreground plant in larger layouts.
Bacopa australis comes from Brazil and not from Australia as the name suggests. In the aquarium, stems of this plant grow to a height of about 10-30cm. Just like other Bacopa species, this one is also easy to care for in the aquarium.
Cryptocoryne albida 'Brown' comes from Asia and can be found in Thailand, among other places. A beautiful aquarium plant with narrow, red-brown leaves with dark markings and beautifully curled leaf edges up to 15 cm long.

Cryptocoryne parva comes from Sri Lanka and is the smallest of the Cryptocoryne species. The leaves are spoon-shaped and fresh green in color with a length of 3-6 cm.

Eriocaulon cinerum is a special appearance in the aquarium. Now available as an aquarium plant from tissue culture. The plant is quite small and has very narrow, pointed leaves. Longer flower stems with white balls are formed, which further increases the attractive value of this aquarium plant!
Hydrocotyle sp. "Japan" is the popular name of this plant on the various forums. It is a variant of the Hydrocotyle tripartita from Southeast Asia and is characterized by its fast, compact growth and small, intense green leaves on vertical stems.

Hydrocotyle verticillata comes from America and the round leaves on stems grow 3-7cm high in the aquarium.
Littorella uniflora is a unique appearance in the aquarium. Runners are formed and the plant spreads over the ground with characteristic, fleshy leaves with a length of 2 to 5 cm.
Lobelia cardinalis comes from North America and is ideal as an aquarium plant for creating so-called "streets". It grows to a height of 10-30cm.

Micranthemum umbrosum is a beautiful aquarium plant from the USA with small round leaves and whose stems grow to a height of 10-25cm.
Pogostemon helferi was discovered by aquarium enthusiasts in Thailand, near the border with Burma. Here it is called 'Downoi' (little star) and it is easy to see why.

Rotala rotundifolia 'H'ra' is an aquarium plant with fairly small leaves and an overhanging or creeping growth. The compact growth and warm color offer many possibilities for use in the layout of the aquarium.
Staurogyne repens is a compact, robust and fresh green plant for the foreground of the aquarium. It is native to the southern Amazons and grows to a height of about 5 to 10 cm. An ideal plant species for a nano aquarium.
