Foreground plants are basicly aquarium plants that stay low. Combine different types of aquarium plants that provide contrast with each other in color, leave shape and height. This way a playful and interesting under water landscape can be created.

Cryptocoryne crispatula comes from southern Thailand where it grows in water that can be quite hard. The leaves of this aquarium plant are thin, corrugated and can grow 20-60cm long.

Cryptocoryne undulata 'Broad Leaves' is a variant of the Cryptocoryne undulata from Sri Lanka and has broader leaves with a beautiful spotted pattern. In the aquarium it grows to a size of 15-25cm.
Cryptocoryne wendtii 'Green' comes from Sri Lanka and grows to a size of 5-15cm in the aquarium. It is an easy aquarium plant, also suitable for a small aquarium.

Cryptocoryne wendtii 'Tropica' is a beautiful, undemanding aquarium plant with dark hammered leaves and grows 10-15cm tall.
Echinodorus 'Barthii' is a beautiful cultivar that makes a beautiful impression as a solitary in a large aquarium. The height of this aquarium plant is 25-50cm and also becomes 20-30cm wide. The leaf color varies from dark red to dark green.
Hottonia palustris is a stem plant from Asia and Europe with special leaves and which makes few demands on the aquarium.

Limnophila hippuridoides is an aquarium plant from Asia with a beautiful appearance. The stems grow to 20-50cm high and 6-10cm wide. It is a simple aquarium plant that can adapt to different conditions.
Marsilea minuta is an ideal ground cover for an aquarium with less light. The leaves are very small and rarely become wider than 0.5 cm. The result is a beautiful carpet, which looks very similar to a Glossostigma carpet.
Monosolenium tenerum is an attractive species of liverwort for the aquarium with a height of 2-5cm. It looks very much like a giant Riccia, but it stays on the bottom where it forms cushions.
Pogostemon erectus is a decorative plant for the central zone or background. This aquarium plant comes from India and has a special, bright green color, whose buds can even develop a warm glow under intensive lighting. The stems of 10-30cm and fresh plumes give a lively appearance to the aquarium.
Pogostemon helferi was discovered by aquarium enthusiasts in Thailand, near the border with Burma. Here it is called 'Downoi' (little star) and it is easy to see why.

Pogostemon stellata is found in Asia and Australia and is distinguished by its beautiful shape and color. Stems of this aquarium plant grow 20-60cm long and up to 10cm wide.
Rotala macrandra is an aquarium plant with unprecedented beauty, but unfortunately it does make some demands on the aquarium. The plant originally comes from India and grows to a maximum height of about 40-50cm. Underwater, the plant in the aquarium develops beautiful red leaves that make a graceful impression.
Rotala rotundifolia literally means "plant with round leaves". However, this only applies to the above-water form. This aquarium plant comes from Asia and has long, thin underwater leaves of 2-3cm with stems of 15-30cm.

Taxiphyllum barbieri is a species of moss that is very easy to keep in the aquarium. The moss comes from Asia and is therefore often referred to as Java moss. It grows up to 10cm thick and attaches to a variety of surfaces. Ideal for covering stones, back walls or driftwood.
Taxiphyllum 'Spiky' is a more robust moss species and forms thicker shoots. These are strongly branched with many 'leaves' and have a deep green color. A bit like the big brother of 'Christmas moss'.
Utricularia graminifolia originates from Asia and belongs to the bladderwort family. Under good conditions: plenty of light, soft water, CO2 addition and sufficient nutrients, a compact turf with a fresh green color is created. The leaves are soft and supple and ideal for an aquascape to simulate a grass landscape.
Vallisneria nana is an aquarium plant from Australia and has long thin leaves less than 1cm wide with a dark green color. The height is also quite low for a valisneria.
Vesicularia montagnei 'Christmas' is a species of moss for the aquarium originating from Brazil. It owes its name 'Christmas moss' to its structure with side branches that resembles a pine tree. There is a clear difference here with the standard 'Java moss'. The requirements for lighting, CO2 and nutrients are low and Christmas Moss grows in almost every aquarium.
