Aquarium plants for the mid-ground reach above the foreground plants and can be placed in front of the background plants. The midground can be covered with medium height plants or plant groups or solitairy plants on the Golden Ratio. Combine different types of plants with a contrast in leave shape, leave color and texture for maximum results.

Alternanthera reineckii 'Pink' comes from South America and has a purple color on the underside of the leaves. This provides an effective contrast with many other green aquarium plants. Particularly when placed in a group.
Bacopa australis comes from Brazil and not from Australia as the name suggests. In the aquarium, stems of this plant grow to a height of about 10-30cm. Just like other Bacopa species, this one is also easy to care for in the aquarium.
Echinodorus bleheri is an easy aquarium plant that comes from South America. The leaves are light green and grow to 20-50cm long.
