Foreground plants are basicly aquarium plants that stay low. Combine different types of aquarium plants that provide contrast with each other in color, leave shape and height. This way a playful and interesting under water landscape can be created.
Aquarium plants for the mid-ground reach above the foreground plants and can be placed in front of the background plants. The midground can be covered with medium height plants or plant groups or solitairy plants on the Golden Ratio. Anubias barteri var. nana is a small, decorative aquarium plant that grows well in a variety of conditions. It originally comes from Cameroon and grows to a size of about 5 to 10 cm. The rhizome also reaches a length of 10cm or more. Anubias grows slowly and the leaves last several years.

Anubias 'Petite' is a mutation of the Anubias nana and has even smaller leaves. This also grows very slowly and is not always easy to keep in good conditions. It remains smaller than 5cm and the rhizome grows to 10cm or longer.
Bucephalandra 'Kedagang' grows naturally on stones and wood in rivers and streams, similar to Anubias. The maintenance and growth also corresponds to that of Anubias species and can be tied to wood or stone.

Eleocharis acicularis is a popular aquarium plant. Not without reason, because it grows in almost all conditions in the aquarium. It prefers an open space without shade from overhanging plants.
