Foreground plants are basicly aquarium plants that stay low. Combine different types of aquarium plants that provide contrast with each other in color, leave shape and height. This way a playful and interesting under water landscape can be created.
Alternanthera reineckii 'Mini' is a very popular aquarium plant due to its red color and is characterized by compact growth and slower growth rate. Ideal for a small aquarium or as a foreground plant in larger layouts.
Anubias 'Petite' is a mutation of the Anubias nana and has even smaller leaves. This also grows very slowly and is not always easy to keep in good conditions. It remains smaller than 5cm and the rhizome grows to 10cm or longer.
Bacopa australis comes from Brazil and not from Australia as the name suggests. In the aquarium, stems of this plant grow to a height of about 10-30cm. Just like other Bacopa species, this one is also easy to care for in the aquarium.
Eleocharis pusilla 'mini' is a variant of the well-known Needle Grass family and is even smaller than Eleocharis parvula. This dwarf aquarium plant is therefore predestined for use in the nano aquarium. After some time, Eleocharis acicularis 'Mini' will have covered the ground with a field full of fine, fresh green blades.
Helanthium tenellum, formerly Echinodorus tenellus, is the smallest variant of the Echinodorus species. This makes it ideal for a small aquarium. The plant spreads via suckers and eventually a beautiful, fresh green grass carpet will develop in the aquarium.
Hydrocotyle verticillata comes from America and the round leaves on stems grow 3-7cm high in the aquarium.
Lilaeopsis brasiliensis is a commonly used plant species to create a lawn in the aquarium. The aquarium plant is originally from South America and grows to a height of about 4 to 7 cm with plenty of lighting.
Micranthemum tweediei 'Monte Carlo' grows under good conditions across the bottom of the aquarium and forms a thick carpet of small round leaves.
Sagittaria subulata is an aquarium plant that comes from South America. Ideal as a foreground plant, it is undemanding and grows to a height of about 15 cm in the aquarium.
Staurogyne repens is a compact, robust and fresh green plant for the foreground of the aquarium. It is native to the southern Amazons and grows to a height of about 5 to 10 cm. An ideal plant species for a nano aquarium.
